WRATT IV Promote Landfill Alternatives Now: Solutions for Industrial Solid Waste: Chapter 08: Waste Shipped Offsite

Chapter Abstract: This is clip 8 of 26 for this video. About 54,000 manufacturing facilities are shipping their waste offsite to local landfills. Tennessee landfills estimate that their landfill is comprised of 1/3 Household waste, 1/3 manufacturing waste and 1/3 commercial waste. The EPA has set up 3 steps to dealing with solid waste. Step 1 is to identify what is in the streams and where they are coming from. Step 2 is to identify which streams are posing risks. Step 3 is to determine what sort of program is necessary to deal with the high risk waste streams.
