WRATT IV Promote Landfill Alternatives Now: Solutions for Industrial Solid Waste: Chapter 13: Case Study - John Deere - Plant Tour
Chapter Abstract: This is clip 13 of 26 for this video. This plant has worked with its vendors to make reusable and returnable racks designed specifically for John Deere parts. The initial cost of the rack is a bit higher, but it saves both the plant and the vendor money in the long run. The line workers are involved in the design of the racks because they can provide the best input as to the usability of such a device. The plant has made it a policy that all parts must come in with returnable containers. For smaller parts they use returnable plastic and collapsible wooden crates. Whatever cardboard cannot be reused is bailed and recycled.
