WRATT IV Promote Landfill Alternatives Now: Solutions for Industrial Solid Waste: Chapter 16: Case Study - Sharp - Waste Reduction Process
Chapter Abstract: This is clip 16 of 26 for this video. The first step in implementing the program was to analyze their waste stream. They divided their incoming waste into 4 categories. They first started a recycling program for all incoming cardboard. Then, they went into other areas to find ways to recycle the other materials. They put in place a system that put each department in charge of their own waste streams. They continually track all of the recyclable materials that leave the plant, and use those logs to generate periodic reports to management. They have contacted all of their suppliers to use reusable containers wherever they can. They included their waste disposal service in the design of their plan. They started a partnership with Plastech Systems as an outlet for the expanded polystyrene.
