WRATT IV Promote Landfill Alternatives Now: Solutions for Industrial Solid Waste: Chapter 17: Case Study - Sharp - Plastech Systems Partnership
Chapter Abstract: This is clip 17 of 26 for this video. Plastech Systems was started through the partnership with Sharp Manufacturing. They determined what waste items they did not have a recycling outlet for, and began to research ways to recycle them. The two most difficult items to deal with were the polystyrene and polyethylene. They found a way to reduce the volume going to the landfill at first. They then found equipment that could be refitted to recycle these materials. The material is collapsed and can then be expanded and used in a shape mold product. They are expanding to do the shape for other plastics.
