Reducing The Hazards - A Look at Pollution Prevention Programs in Texas: Chapter 09: Continue the Process

Chapter Abstract: This is clip 9 of 10 for this video. Step 8: Continue the Process. The goal of the DuPont plant in La Porte is to have zero waste. The corporate environmental plan set up groups to look for alternatives for each waste stream. One of the first successes in this on-going process was the modification of a chlorination reactor. 10 feet of pipe saved them $50,000 per day. Employees are also involved in educational programs with areas schools to promote recycling. TNRCC (now TCEQ) has an outreach program that can assist businesses in achieving their pollution prevention goals.
