Waste Prevention Tools at Work: Chapter 02: Preparing an Assessment
Chapter Abstract: This is clip 2 of 5 for this video. The first step in determining how a business should reduce waste is performing a waste assessment. This will show how waste is currently being managed, where it is being generated, and the current level of garbage service. An assessor will interview representatives from the company, tour the facility making observations and asking questions and present a follow-up report providing comments and suggestions. The assessor should be aware that the information gathered is confidential. Providing a pre-assessment questionnaire will let the business know what type of information the assessor is looking for. It is helpful to have a team of two assessors conducting the assessment.
